Recent Google Merchant Center Update! Taking effect June 5th.
Unique product identifiers (UPI) such as Global Trade Numbers (GTIN) and Manufacturer SKU’s have always been important in google shopping because it allows Google to better identify your product and price match your product to other vendors selling the same product. The new update still allows products to be submitted without these UPI’s but they will be held with higher importance and can affect how you appear in the SERP. My guess is it will affect the quality score. What do you think? I have found it hard to get clients to use the GTIN numbers as many of them make their own barcodes.
